Aabenraa Municipality’s Kassø site has been officially named one of Denmark’s 11 new national industrial parks – a major step in strengthening regional competitiveness, speeding up permitting, and attracting new green investments.

The designation positions Aabenraa Municipality as a central player in Denmark’s new national strategy to strengthen industrial production and green innovation. The announcement was also highlighted in the Aabenraa Kommune's press release (in Danish). The 11 industrial parks are established under the political agreement Rød løber for produktionsvirksomheder (Red Carpet for Production Companies), which aims to create favourable conditions for businesses that wish to invest and produce in Denmark.

The initiative supports the country’s long-term ambition to enhance industrial competitiveness and secure growth through better access to suitable production areas, faster approval processes, and strong infrastructure links.

Located in Southern Jutland, the Kassø area is already home to large-scale renewable energy projects, including one of Europe’s largest Power-to-X facilities developed by European Energy. The new national status further reinforces Aabenraa’s position as a circular and innovative industrial hub connecting energy, logistics, construction, and food industries.

As highlighted by Dansk Erhverv (in Danish), the national industrial park initiative represents an important step towards maintaining Denmark’s leadership in green production and ensuring a solid foundation for future growth. The plan is expected to create thousands of new jobs, attract private investment, and stimulate local and regional development.

With this recognition, Aabenraa Municipality continues to strengthen its role as Southern Denmark’s green growth engine – supporting national objectives for sustainable industry and innovation.
